The 2026 Street Handball activities in Chipata, Eastern Province of Zambia, under the ZIKOMO Project, have officially commenced with the successful training of 10 coaches. The training, held from 6th to 7th February 2026 at Groenward Christian School, brought together 5 community volunteers and 5 sports teachers from different private schools within Chipata.
The two-day workshop focused on introducing the fundamentals of street handball, coaching methodologies, safeguarding, and community engagement strategies aimed at promoting inclusive sport participation among young people.
On the final day, the trained coaches conducted a practical session where they organized and facilitated a street handball game with children from the surrounding community. This hands-on experience allowed the coaches to apply their newly acquired skills while actively engaging local children in a fun, structured, and inclusive sporting environment.
The ZIKOMO Project continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering communities through sport development and youth engagement in Eastern Province.
