The ZIKOMO Project Zambia continues to inspire by bringing children and communities together through Street Handball. This time, they visited Childhood Academy, Groenward Academy, Crown School, and Cheshire Homes, creating smiles, fun, and unforgettable experiences for everyone involved.

CHESHIRE HOMES ENGAGEMENT we introduced the Street Handball Program.

With only a few days to go before the 4th World Street Handball Day Celebration, the ZIKOMO Project has conducted a build session at Cheshire Homes, Chipata.

Children enthusiastically participated in a variety of fun team-building activities and an engaging Street Handball training session, developing teamwork, confidence, and fundamental handball skills in an inclusive and enjoyable environment.

The ZIKOMO Project remains committed to creating opportunities for every child to play, learn, and thrive through sport.

Crown School Engagement and Street Handball Introduction

The ZIKOMO Project conducted a Street Handball session at Crown School in Mchini, Chipata. The children enjoyed fun movement games, blindfold team-building activities, and learned the basic skills of Street Handball. All the participants, it was their very first experience playing Street Handball, making it an exciting and memorable introduction to the sport.

Street Handball Pop-Up Session at Groenward Academy in Chipata

The ZIKOMO Project team conducted a Street Handball session during the school’s Physical Education lesson at Groenward Academy on July 23, 2026. The session was facilitated by project volunteer Mr. Andrew Banda, who is also the school’s Sports Teacher, alongside Joseph Daka.

The activity introduced learners to Street Handball fundamentals while encouraging active participation, teamwork, fair play, and physical fitness during regular school sports lessons. Attached below are some of the photos that were taken during the activities at Groenward Academy.

The ZIKOMO Project officially introduced Street Handball at Childhood Academy in Roma, Lusaka!

Three sports teachers were first introduced to the basics of Street Handball before the children joined in for an exciting and energetic session. The activities included group warm-ups followed by fun 3-aside games centered on teamwork and fair play.

It was inspiring to see the children actively participating, learning new skills, and enjoying the game together.

The school representative Mr. Shivam Saran, expressed gratitude for the initiative and announced that Childhood Academy will begin conducting regular Street Handball sessions for children starting next week.

We are incredibly excited about this milestone and look forward to seeing more children taking part in Street Handball and enjoying the power of sport for development.
